Enforcing drunk driving laws.
The highway patrol have many effective strategies when enforcing drunk driving laws. The best of their strategies is the implied consent law. This law states that any motorist with a drivers license has given consent (without knowledge) that they can be subjected to a breath, urine, or blood test if asked by the police. This test will be used to determine if the driver has driven while under the influence. If a driver refuses they can then be charged with harsher penalties.

Know your drunk driving laws.
It’s always important to know your drunk driving laws. In California it is illegal to drive with a BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) of 0.08% or higher. If you are caught driving with this elevated alcohol concentration, you will be arrested for driving a vehicle while under the influence. It’s is even lower for commercial vehicle drivers. They can be arrested if their BAC is 0.04% or higher.
In all states it is illegal for a minor (person under the age of 21) to consume alcohol. If a minor is caught driving with a BAC of 0.01% or higher, they can have their license suspended or even revoked. At 0.05% or higher, a minor can be arrested.
Consequences of violating drunk driving laws.
The penalties of violating drunk driving laws can be steep. If any driver has a BAC that is higher than the legal limit, they can be arrested, their vehicle can be impounded, and they may face prison time, probation, or community service. In addition to that, a person convicted of a DUI can rack up fees in excess of $5000.00, which can consist of fines, court fees, and alcohol classes. It’s always a good idea to contact a DUI Attorney if you face a DUI conviction.
