After bankruptcy, your bankruptcy credit score needs improvement. Your bankruptcy stays on your record for at least seven years. Having a poor credit record will have various consequences. Rebuilding a good credit record takes time. Verify that your credit report is accurate. How can I get post bankruptcy credit?

During or after bankruptcy, you can repair bankruptcy credit. First if you have secured loans and did not modify them, ask for loan modifications. Learn more about loan modification. Some banks offer passbook savings loans, others may ask for collateral. Before getting a loan, verify the interest rate, the prepayment penalties, and whether the bank will report the loan to a credit bureau.

If you have filed under Chapter 13 and have paid most of your unsecured debts, find out if the court has a credit reestablishment program. This program will help you identify sources of credit, fill out credit applications, and prepare you for interviews with lenders.

How can I get post bankruptcy credit cards?

During or after bankruptcy, you can get post bankruptcy credit cards. During your bankruptcy, your lawyer will ask you for a l ist of only the credit cards that have debts you cannot pay. After the bankruptcy is filled, a credit card company may decide to cancel or not cancel your card. It is up to the credit card company. It does not mean that you can no longer have credit cards. Some banks offer credit cards when a debtor places money in the bank to secure the payment. In addition, you may still receive some credit card offers at a normal rate. If you take one you, be sure to pay the bills on time.

What about bankruptcy credit counseling?

Since you have filed for bankruptcy, you have already taken at least one bankruptcy credit counseling class. If you have been discharged, you have already taken two bankruptcy credit classes from approved providers. If you are serious about bankruptcy credit repair and think you need assistance and support, you may take extra bankruptcy credit counseling classes.
