Certificates of credit counseling and debt repayment plan for bankruptcy court filings are mandatory requirements. A pre bankruptcy credit counseling course lasts one hour or two. It required for bankruptcy court filings. It can be taken in person, on the phone, or on line. If you cannot afford the fee, the organization is supposed to provide the counseling for free. If you cannot afford the fee, you must ask for a fee waiver from the organization before you take the session. Once you have completed the counseling, you get a certificate of completion.
